Douglas Hughes

As a longtime Kalamazoo area resident, Doug was employed in the paper industry for over 45 years prior to his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman, Mr. Fix-It and an all-around Jack of all Trades, but was most proud of serving on the Ft. Custer Honor Guard for 18 years. Family was an important part of his life. Doug was united in marriage to Mary (Duff) Hughes in 1951 and she preceded him in death in 2015. He was also preceded in death by all of his siblings. Surviving are two children, James (Michelle) Hughes and Brenda Hambright (Todd Cline); six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A Graveside Service with full military honors will be held at 1:30PM on Thursday, December 27th in Ft. Custer National Cemetery (Those wishing to attend please meet at the cemetery entrance). Following the graveside service, family and friends will gather for a time of food and fellowship at the City of Galesburg City Hall. Memorials may be directed to Kairos Dwelling.
