Doris Rector

Ginny Rector, age 88 of Battle Creek, Michigan passed away peacefully in her home with her family at her side on December 23, 2021 after a brief illness. Ginny was born in Hall County, Georgia on October 9, 1933 to Jennings and Elizabeth (Martin) Shubert. She grew up on a cotton farm in Clermont, Georgia where she talked of picking a lot of cotton as a child. She graduated from Clermont High School in 1951. Shortly after she met and married Francis (Frank) Rector and they moved to Michigan to start a family. She enjoyed sailing and boating on Gull Lake, and spending time with her family. Ginny never forgot her family in Georgia, returning each year to visit. Ginny was a hard worker, working the midnight shift during her entire career in Data Processing retiring from General Motors/EDS in 1998. After she retired, she moved to Ft Wayne, Indiana to spend time with her girlfriends. While there, she enjoyed dancing, playing bingo, going to casinos, and having coffee with her friends. Ginny later moved back to Michigan to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She was a kind and caring person. She leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who loved her. Ginny was proceeded in death by her mother and father, Jennings and Elizabeth Shubert; her siblings; JD Shubert, Willie C (Steve) Grover, Dewey Lee (Slick) and Boots Shubert, Boyd (Vera) Shubert, Lloyd (Ruth) Shubert (all of Clermont, Georgia). Also proceeded in death by ex-husband and best friend Francis (Frank) Rector and her son Anthony (Tony) Rector. Ginny is survived by her daughters; Debra (Bill) Clock of Otsego, MI, Pamela (Randy) Howe of Dorr, MI, and Lisa (Eric) DeBarr of Battle Creek, MI; her grandchildren Brad (Kaitlin) Howe, Jenna Bauers (Sebastian), Elysia (Austin) Turner, and Tyler Rector; her great grandchildren Ethan, Alyssa, Riley, Ryker, and Elaina Howe, Michael, Colton, and Logan Turner, and Sophia Wiles. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held January 7th, 2021 from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm with a memorial service from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm at Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service at 375 W.
