Donna Conens

85, passed away on the beautiful morning of May 22, 2017. Donna was born Aug 12, 1931 in Buffalo, NY to Harold and Marie Cavanagh. She graduated from the University of Buffalo where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta national sorority. Donna had a life-long career teaching, specializing in physical education and special education, including 25 years at the Muskegon ISD. Donna loved music and found great joy singing with the choir at Central United Methodist Church in Muskegon, with whom she often travelled to Europe performing choir concerts in the great cathedrals. Donna enjoyed raising her 3 girls in the Muskegon area and was often a substitute teacher in their schools and a dedicated 4-H leader who taught sewing and baking to many area children. Her "can do" attitude served her very well. On December 27th 1952, Donna married Dr. James Lucie in Buffalo NY. They settled in Fruitport, MI and had 3 children, Sandi Doctor of Kalamazoo, MI, Pam LaFrance of Ridgeland, SC, and Robin Lucie of Durango, CO. Later in life she married Ben Conens, of Holland, who enjoyed her love of music and travel. Donna is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, David Cavanagh, and her third husband, Ben Conens. She is survived by her three daughters, their spouses, 10 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. A woman of faith, we rejoice that her soul has been released to heaven.
