Donald Allen Way, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away February 15, 2020, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Don was born on June 2, 1944, to Freeman Way and Bernice (Revore) Way. Don is survived by his wife Linda (Fross) Way of 55 years, son Jeffrey (Judy) Way of Kalamazoo, Mi, daughter Shannon (Trevor) Van Houten of Hastings, Mi, grandchildren Ethan Way and Emma Way, sister Joyce (John) Fornhoff of Gobles, Mi, sister Nancy (John) Baker of Hamilton, Mi, brother Bob Way and many nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Freeman Way, sister, Patricia Schmidt, and sister, Debra Bell. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to everyone. Don graduated from Mattawan High School in 1962 before honorably serving in the United States Army from 1962-1965. He attended Penn State University and began his career as a Sprinkler Fitter with B.L. Harroun & Son before working for General Motors as a Pipefitter/Plumber for 30 years, retiring in 2009. Don met his wife Linda Fross when they were still in high school and they married on October 10, 1964. Until his dying breath, he never stopped telling everyone how much he loved his wife. 55 years of love and laughter leave his wife and children with wonderful memories. Don loved to hunt and fish on Drummond Island. He loved The University of Michigan and Michigan State University and Detroit baseball. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2020 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Richland Area Community Center located at 9400 East CD Avenue, Richland, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o the funeral home.
