Donald W. Virkus, age 79, passed away on Friday, July 27 at 5:45 pm at the Abington Nursing Home in Glenview, IL. Don was born on November 10, 1938 in Benton Harbor, MI to Walter and Marge Virkus. He graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Business Marketing and it was at MSU where he met Janice M. Ball. They married and had 3 children and lived happily in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Don retired from I.B.M in 1989. Don and Jan enjoyed golf and 'wintering' in Bonita Beach Florida until Jan's death in 2009. Donald is survived by daughter Shelley Harris (Chris), son Brad Virkus (Cari), daughter Jill Powers (Dennis), 8 grandchildren: Zac, Emmy, Tucker, Tate (Brad), Michael, Maggie, Bonnie (Shelley), AJ (Jill) and his Brother, Bill Virkus. Donald will be remembered fondly for his hearty laugh and embellished stories. His life will be celebrated by immediate family in the early Fall.
