Pete, age 84, died unexpectedly Monday morning, April 2, 2018 at his residence. Pete, the son of Herman and Frances Peters, was born in Parchment, MI on June 11, 1933; was a lifetime area resident and a 1952 graduate of Schoolcraft High School. He retired in 1990 after 30 years of faithful service for the Upjohn Company as the Supervisor of Fermentation Department. Pete was an "True Outdoorsman" having enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing a round of golf with family and friends. He passed his love of the outdoors on to "All" of his children. Pete also was a Master Craftsman when it came to woodworking knickknacks for everyone. Pete was united in marriage to the former Jean E. Sliter in Kalamazoo on August 22, 1970. Surviving is his wife of 47 years, Jean; four daughters, Susan (Scott) Davis of Schoolcraft, Robin Burton of Crest Hill, IL, Leni (Dave) Rice of Schoolcraft and Donna (Jim) Hector of Belding, MI; a step-daughter, Kerry (Robert) Holt of Suffolk, VA; step-son, Andrew (Gail) Copeland of Atlanta, GA; fourteen grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren and two special nieces whom he help raise, Amy (John) Brubaker and Stephanie (Kelly) Porter, both of Portage, MI. Pete was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, John, Thomas & Charles Peters. The Celebration of Pete's life will be held on Thursday, April 12th at Noon at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel, 9170 East D Avenue (M-89). Pete's family will greet friends on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Pete's honor may be directed to the Hospice of Southwestern Michigan, 222 N. Kalamazoo Mall, Suite #100, Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
