Donald E. Neale, Sr., age 88, of Vicksburg, MI passed away Friday morning, March 31, 2017. Don was born February 11, 1929 in Kalamazoo the son of the late Frank and Isabelle (Hiestand) Neale. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the submarines Greenfish (SS-351) and Sirago (SS-485) during World War II. Prior to his retirement he worked for over 30 years with National Waterlift. Don attended St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and enjoyed wood carving, woodworking, cartoon illustration, bowling, fishing and watching sports. On August 23, 1950 he was united in marriage to his loving wife, Janet (Belkowski), who survives. Also surviving are his children, Donald Jr. (Chris) Neale, Peggy Neale; 4 grandchildren, Scott (Karen) Shoals, Holly Shoals, Kaitlyn Neale, Shane (Kelli) Neale; 3 great-grandchildren, Aubree, Savanna, and Braxtyn; a brother, Guy (Vicki) Neale; sister-in-law, Ruth Neale; and several nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Neale. Services will be held at 11:00am Friday, April 7 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre. Interment will follow in Ft. Custer National Cemetery with full military honors. Friends may meet the family Thursday, April 6 from 6-8pm at the Portage Chapel. Memorials may be directed to Kindred Hospice or the charity of your choice.
