Donald A. James, age 77, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 27, 2016 in Saugatuck, Mi.
Don was born in July of 1938 in Galien, MI. to Robert and Teresa James. Don graduated from Michigan State University in 1961 with a BA in Business Education, and a Masters of Education. Don enjoyed a 27 year career with the MEA. He is preceded in death by his youngest son Darrin James and a brother Dean James.
Don is survived by his sons: Douglas and Brittany James and Daniel James all of Saugatuck; grandchildren: Nathan, Franchesca, Adrianna, Solomon, Keaton, Carter, and Preston James; brother: Robert Jr. and Gayle James of Buchanan, MI; nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass is scheduled for 11:00 am, Thursday, March 31, 2016 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 100 Peter Drive in Douglas. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Don’s life. Burial will be in East Saugatuck Cemetery.
A visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at the Dykstra Funeral Home - Saugatuck chapel, 520 Lake Street in Saugatuck and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Holland.
