Donald Dieterman

Dieterman, Donald W. 3/28/1928 - 1/3/2017 KALAMAZOO Donald W. Dieterman, age 88, of Kalamazoo, Michigan passed away peacefully at home on January 3, 2017. Donald was born to John Wm. Dieterman and Katherine Burmania on March 28, 1928. Donald proudly served our country in the United States Army, where he fought in the Korean war, and received the Purple Heart. He was also a member of VFW Post 6252 (Comstock, Michigan) and the American Legion Post 0475 (Schoolcraft, Michigan). On November 11, 1957 he married the love of his life, Berdine Durian. They were married for 59 years. He worked for many years at National Storage Company until his retirement in 1986. Donald enjoyed doing many things throughout his life including camping, fishing, hunting, boating, and wood-working. Donald is survived by his wife, Berdine; children, John (Desi) Dieterman, Deborah Ball, Richard Dieterman, and Cheryl (Tim) Alfieri; grandchildren, Kelly, Kristi, Jennifer, Steven, Heidi, Robert, and Emma; great grandchildren, Trenton, Ava, and Zoey; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Madelyn Van'tRoer. In accordance with Donald's wishes, cremation will take place and there will be no funeral services.
