Dolores “Dee” Stultz age 89 passed away in her home on Sunday, May 14, 2017 in Largo Florida. She was born in Grand Rapids Michigan to John and Estella (Hollands) Whitaker and was the oldest of 4 children. As a young child Dee began her journey to share the love and joy of dance. She did tap, ballet, competed in Scottish highland dance competitions and chorus lines she choreographed and performed for 13 years for the Union High School Follies. After her marriage to Duane “Duke” Stultz in 1948, Dee opened a dance studio where she taught tap and ballet, raised 5 children and was the President of the PTA. Dee moved to Minnesota where she became an active member and Treasure of the Saint Andrews Society MN. In 1975 Dee started her own business Tartan Imports and began travelling the states with her parents selling her products at the Scottish Highland games. In 1980 Dee moved to Florida she opened her shop in Dunedin Florida and continued to travel to many highland games until 1992. Dee has devoted much of her time to the continuation of Scottish traditions serving on the Dunedin Highland Games Committee as Vendor Chairperson for 33 years. Dee served 10 years as President and 5 years as First Vice President of the Scottish American Society of Dunedin. Due to her commitment, Dee was honored as Chief of the Day at the 2009 Dunedin Highland Games. In 2015 she received a Lifetime of Achievement Award for 35 years of service and dedication to the Scottish American Society. Dee continued her love of dance with the Dunedin and Sarasota Scottish Country Dance Societies, performing, attending workshops and Country Dance Balls. She most enjoyed teaching Line Dancing class at the Highlands Rec Center for the past 10 years. Throughout her life Dee made so many lasting friendships and was an inspiration to many by showing that you can live a full life filled with the love of dance no matter what your age. Dee is survived by her sons Dan and Don Stultz and her daughter Denise Stultz. Her grandchildren Damian and Derek Stultz, David and Diana Rosenbluth Her cousin Mary Ann McCoy, Grace Hill and Sue Ellen Petz. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, brothers Carl, Dale and Thomas Whitaker. Sons, Douglas and Duane Stultz and granddaughter Danielle Muir. We are forever grateful for her loving spirit and all of the joy she brought into our lives. Dee is now dancing with the angels and doing strathspeys across clouds in the Highlands of Heaven. There will be a graveside service Friday, May 19th at 11:30 AM at Rosedale Memorial Park, 50 Lake Michigan Drive, Grand Rapids, MI Dee wished for her friends and family to have a dance party to celebrate and honor her life. This celebration will be held in November at the Scottish American Society of Dunedin, 917 Louden Ave, Dunedin, FL.
