David Earle Weiss, fun-loving and beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on April 19, 2023.

Dave was born on February 8, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, to Earle E. Weiss and Virginia F. Ridley and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan, along with two sisters, Dolores and Dorothy. After high school, Dave attended Eastern Michigan University, taking time off to join the U.S. Army. After returning from a deployment in Korea, he attended the University of Michigan, graduating with a bachelor's degree in engineering.

During Christmas 1957, Dave met Leila (Lee) Bachman. They married on June 20, 1959, and enjoyed 63 years together, 51 of them on Gull Lake, where they raised four sons. For more than 30 years, Dave sold packaging machinery, traveling throughout the United States and Europe as co-owner of RPMI.

Dave had many interests and hobbies. As a younger man, he was a competitive sailor on both water and ice and an avid downhill and water skier and scuba diver. After retirement, he and Lee loved traveling, especially road trips, whether by car, motorcycle, or motor home, visiting their sons, other family, and friends throughout the country. Dave also loved his motorboat and, in more recent years, his pontoon boat. A highlight of his summers included time on the water with his 8 grandchildren and other family members. In recent years, Dave spent many hours on the pontoon boat, reading, listening to music, and sleeping.

Dave was predeceased by his parents, Earle and Virginia Weiss, and his sister Dolores. He is survived by his sister, Dorothy (Bill); wife, Lee; his four sons, Earle (Joan), Jeff, Cameron (Andrea), and Jason (Darla); and his eight grandchildren: Annika, Ian, Andrew, Rowan, Claudia, Alexander, Ava, and Nico.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. The family is grateful to Promedica Hospice for the help and comfort they provided to Dave and his family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity of your choice. Personal messages for David's family may be shared at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
