David Lee Nielsen, age 76, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. He was born in Racine, November 15, 1939, son of the late Henry and Pearl (Nee: Stapleman) Nielsen.

Dave attended William Horlick High School. On September 15, 1962 he was united in marriage to Judith A. Toutant. Dave proudly served in the United States Army from 1963-1965. He retired from State Farm Insurance where he was employed for many years as an insurance adjuster. Dave also was employed by several auto shops and car dealers in Racine. He was a member of the Sons of Norway. Dave enjoyed fishing with his grandsons, golfing, and remodeling his home. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Judith; his children, Dennis Nielsen, Michelle (Curt) Johnson; his grandchildren, Grant, Blake, Elise, and Magen Johnson, David Nielsen; brother, Larry (Janice) Nielsen; sister, Vicky Heckel; special family member, Phyllis Heinen; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill (MaryAnn) Toutant, Terry (Lorrie) Toutant, Sandy (Dan) Hoaglund; many cherished nieces and nephews; other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Helen and FrancisToutant; brothers, Lee Nielsen; brother-in-law, Donald Heckel; and nephew, Barry Nielsen.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 2, 2016, 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Doidge officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the funeral home from 9:30 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. Memorials to the V.F.W. Post 1391 or to the Sons of Norway have been suggested by the family.
