Darrell VanDeLaare

VanDeLaare, Darrell Edwin Kalamazoo Darrell Edwin VanDeLaare, age 88, of Kalamazoo, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022, at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born in Kalamazoo on January 17, 1934, the son of the late Melvin Peter VanDeLaare and Aretha (Schallhorn) VanDeLaare. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He worked as a Traffic Manager for Fabri-Kal for 34 years, retiring in 1994. Darrell enjoyed the outdoors, spending his time hunting, fishing, and playing golf. He was united in marriage with Ann Louise (MacRitchie) VanDeLaare on June 1, 1957. Ann preceded him in death on August 12, 2016. Darrell is survived by his son, David (Brenda) VanDeLaare; three grandchildren, Barb (Cory) Lopshire, Jessica (Chris) Donaldson, and Jake (Brittany) VanDeLaare; two great-grandchildren, Connor Donaldson and Cole Lopshire; and one brother, Charles (Evelyn) VanDeLaare. He was preceded in death by two sons, Paul and John VanDeLaare; and two brothers, Rich and Bert VanDeLaare. Friends may visit with the family from 3 6 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2022, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 622 S Burdick St, Kalamazoo, MI 49007. A private family graveside service will be held later in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South.
