Daniel Turluck, age 59, of Gull Lake (Richland), MI died Monday evening, June 26, 2017 at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo, MI following a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. Daniel, the son of George and Esther (Weber) Turluck, was born in Sheboygan, WI on March 8, 1958, and grew up on a dairy farm near Five Corners, WI. He graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1976, attended the University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan Center, and was a 1985 graduate of the University of Wisconsin with his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. He was a Pharmaceutical Research Chemist at Raltech and Hazleton Laboratories in Madison, WI; Parke-Davis and Warner-Lambert in Ann Arbor, MI and Pfizer, Inc., in Ann Arbor and Kalamazoo, MI (a 20 year run); KAR Laboratories and KAR Bioanalytical in Kalamazoo, MI; Physicians Toxicology Laboratories in Kalamazoo, MI; and MPI Research, Inc. of Mattawan, MI for the past 3 years. He was a member of the teams that developed Lipitor, Lyrica and others, contributing to the health of millions around the world. Daniel was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church of Augusta, MI; the American Chemical Society and the University of Wisconsin Alumni Association. Daniel enjoyed home improvement, Wisconsin Badgers Basketball and Football, shooting pool and a fine craft beer. Daniel was united in marriage to the former Gail McCarthy at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Wilmette, IL on June 6, 1981. Surviving is his wife of 36 years, Gail; his daughter, Laura C. (Justin Heiser) Beck of Chicago, IL; his son, Neal S. Turluck of Richland; his mother, Esther Turluck of Sheboygan Falls, WI; two sisters, Edith (Jerry Baird) Rohrbeck of Kohler, WI and Barbara (Giorgio Stumpanato) Adams of Hudson, FL; two brothers, David Turluck of Sheboygan, WI and Steven (Nermina) Turluck of Germany; his father-in-law, Gene McCarthy and step-mother-in-law, Mary McCarthy of Chicago, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Daniel was preceded in death by his father, George in 2007, and sisters, Mary Niedfeldt in 2007 and Nancy Ploeckelman in 2008. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 29, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 12648 East D Avenue, Augusta, MI 49012 with Father John D. Fleckenstein, Celebrant and Deacon Michael A. Carl, Assisting. Daniel's family will greet friends today from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the St. Ann Social Hall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, June 30, 2017, at 4:00 p.m. at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 319 Giddings Ave, Sheboygan Falls, WI, 53085, with Father Robert J. Lotz, Celebrant. Daniel's family will greet family and friends on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the Holy Trinity Social Hall. Final private interment will be in St. Rose Cemetery, Town of Lima, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Daniel's honor may be directed to The Lustgarten Foundation, 415 Crossways Park Drive, Suite D, Woodbury, NY 11797.
