Clifford Gruenwald

89, of Whitefish Bay. Entered into Eternal Peace on Dec 1 where he has been united with God and reunited with his wife and the love of his life, Ann Marie (nee Sara), of over 65 years. Cherished Dad of Clifford A, Joseph, and Patricia. Grandfather to Laurie (Lee), Chris, and Cindy (Jim) and Great Grandfather to Austin. Cliff was one of 12 children born to Rose and Alfred on June 1, 1924. He is preceded in death by 10 of his siblings and is survived by his sister Dorothy (Ed), many nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends. Cliff was fortunate to retire early from Allis Chalmers and enjoy many activities – he was an avid golfer; once haven fallen in the Milwaukee River trying to retrieve an errant golf ball, a devoted Packer fan and season ticket holder and was in the stands for the infamous “Ice Bowl” (really, he was). He spent much of his retirement as a dedicated crossing guard making sure all the kids were safe and bundled up. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to tell jokes and told his favorite one over and over and over again; much to the dismay (here we go again) of his wife and children. He was very frugal and taught the valuable life-long lesson to his children to never buy anything you can’t pay for. Recently, he rode his scooter 4 blocks to a local doughnut shop and asked the clerk how much a doughnut was and when the answer was $1, he politely replied, “no thank you” and rode his scooter back home. He loved dogs (esp Cody, Rusty, Maisy, Buster) and equipped his pockets with treats to give to all his doggie friends. He was also a devoted Christian and parishioner of St. Monica’s Parish, faithfully attending church every week. Cliff also served his country in WWII in the Army and is a proud Purple Heart recipient. Rest in peace dear Dad-e-o; you will be sorely missed.
