Clark E. "Ed" Smith

Passed away peacefully Saturday, February 10, 2018. He was born in Kalamazoo on August 21, 1921 the oldest of 5 siblings to parents Dorothea (Schilling) Smith and Clark Smith. Ed served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific until honorably discharged. Ed was united in marriage to Lillian Sloan for over 69 years and father to; Tim, Doug and Pam and grandfather to 3 grandchildren. A rural postal carrier, carpenter and farmer during his working years Ed enjoyed his retirement to the fullest by travelling with Lillian. Ed lived a full and robust life and was known by all as being stalwart and quietly reliable with a wry and keen sense of humor even at 96 he charmed all. Ed is survived by his loving wife, Lillian Smith; brother, Howard "Bill" Smith sister in-law Jean and grandchildren (Jeanene, John and Tim) and son Doug. No visitation or services are scheduled at this time. Cremation has taken place. A private inurnment will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date.
