Visser, Clarine J. Kalamazoo Clarine June Visser went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 3, 2022. She died at Grace Valley, a private group home in Kalamazoo, Mich. She was 86. Clarine was born on July 7, 1935, in Manhattan, Mont., to Alfred and Marie (Venhuizen) Dykema. When Clare was 6, Al and Marie packed their three girls and belongings into their 1939 Chevy and headed to Kalamazoo, where they became members of Second Christian Reformed Church. Clare attended Williams Street Christian School and graduated in 1953 from Kalamazoo Christian High School. On December 10, 1954, she married Henry Visser. Clare was active in church Bible studies and was the librarian in every church where she was a member. She was the person generally in charge of things, organizing dinners and events for schools and churches. Clare and her sister, Loie Block, were a dynamic duo who played softball, camped annually with their children at VanBuren State Park, and sold interior decor at their shop, Granny's Boutique. Clare enjoyed reading, sewing and flower arranging. Comparing Clare to the woman in Proverbs 31, she was an excellent wife who had "willing hands" and "no idleness." Clare knew the three things necessary to live and die in joyful comfort. She was a sinner, but by Jesus' perfect righteousness and sacrificial death she was delivered from misery. She lived to thank God for her deliverance. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Loie Block and Gladys Shoemaker; and a great-granddaughter. She is survived by her husband, Henry Visser; her four children, Joan (Ken) Nieboer of Kalamazoo, Nancy Visser of Dallas, Jan Stahl of Kalamazoo, David (Kristy) Visser of Kalamazoo, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to meet with the family from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 7, at Immanuel Fellowship Church, 6015 West H Ave., where funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. The service will be followed by a light reception. Burial will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission or Alternatives of Kalamazoo.
