Claire McMurray

Claire A. McMurray, age 98, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away November 1, 2017 at the Alamo Nursing Home in Kalamazoo, MI Claire was born January 24, 1919 in Green, Kanas to Clyde A. and Florence (Lamb) Lancaster. At the age of two the family moved to Schoolcraft, MI. then to Cooper Township in Kalamazoo, MI. She was a devoted homemaker, farmers wife for 75 years, and mother. She was a devoted member of the Alamo Congregation Church for 75 years. Her hobbies were square and round dancing, sewing, reading and doing puzzles. On August 31, 1935 she married Arnold C. McMurray who preceded her in death after 75 years of marriage. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arnold, her siblings Lavone Dusseljee, Janette Barnes, Lindon, Lowell, Donald, Clyde, John Lancaster, three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Surviving are her brother Paul Lancaster, of Florida, Five children, David (Joan) McMurray of Otsego, MI, Carol Leeson of Richland, MI, Steven ( Beth) McMurray of South Haven, MI, Mark (Judy) McMurray of Kalamazoo, MI, Ronald (Linda) McMurray of Florida, Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, plus many nieces and nephews Per her wishes cremation has taken place at the Avink Funeral Home Cremation Society. A memorial service is being held at the Alamo Congregational Church on Saturday, November 27, 2017 at 11:00 AM with a luncheon to follow at the church.
