Christine "Chris" Dunham lost her 3-year battle to cancer, in her home surrounded by family, on Monday, December 4th, 2017 in Temperance Michigan. She was 61 years old. Chris was born on October 9, 1956 in Allegan, Michigan. She dedicated her life to helping others, either through her work in the medical field, comforting other cancer patients, volunteering her time at her church or helping and supporting her family. Everyone knew her as sweet, open and friendly; she welcomed everyone into her home and circle. Chris was a Jimmy Buffett fan and a self-proclaimed Parrot Head. She enjoyed vacations in sunny Cancun with her girlfriends soaking in the sun with her toes in the sand on the beach. She cherished the bi-annual Labor Day family reunion trips to Mackinac Island, walking the bridge, telling stories around the campfire and shopping on the island. Chris was an active member of the Toledo HOG chapter with her husband. Chris is survived by her beloved husband and soulmate, Lee; son Dan (Tara) Lauer, Jennie (Jim) Kovacs, Lynn Bell, Michelle (Andy) Schneider; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Rachel, Isabelle, Aubrey, Audrina, Alex, Brayden and Zachary; her parents Clarence and Suzanne Kuiper; brother Rick (Debbie) Kuiper, and sisters Cindy Kuiper and Margie Kuiper; and many loving aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews. Chris is proceeded in death by her son, Jeffrey "Jeff" Lauer; her grandparents, Jessie Kuiper, Koert and Radiance Kuiper and Charles and Eve Querbach. Family and friends may visit the Reeb Funeral Home on Thursday December 7, 2017 from 3pm until 8pm. A funeral service will be held at Whiteford Wesleyan on Friday December 8, 2017 at 11am with a showing at 10am. Interment will follow at Whiteford Cemetery. Donations are encouraged in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society directing to the Joseph S. & Jeanette M. Silber Hope Lodge, an organization that provided Lee a home while Chris was receiving treatment at the Cleveland Clinic.
