Passed away on Monday, May 14, 2018. Age 74. Charles was born in Kalamazoo on March 13, 1944, the son of the late Carroll E. Youngs and Marion M. Piper. He worked for the Keene Corporation for nineteen years and then retired from the City of Kalamazoo after fourteen years of service. He served with the Scotts Volunteer Fire Department for eighteen years. He was a member of the American Legion in Climax. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and gardening. He also enjoyed golf and bowling and bowled in a league at the Nottke's in Battle Creek for many years. He loved baseball and football and was described as a "Rabid" Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions Fan! Charles is survived by his brother, Merwin (Diana) Youngs; his sister-in-law, Marlyn Youngs; his nieces and nephews, Kelly White, Dale (Tammy) White, Lisa (Rip) Soule and Doug Youngs; his God-Son, Austin Duffin; and his good friend Bob Duffin. He was preceded in death by three nephews, Rodney, Mike and Brian Youngs; his brother, Lloyd Youngs and sister, Margaret White; and his good friend, Ernie Bussell. Friends may visit with the family from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 W. Battle Creek St., Galesburg, MI 49053. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 2018 at the funeral chapel, officiated by Pastor David Mackaluso. Interment will follow after the service in Gilson Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Great Lakes Caring or the American Legion in Climax.
