Life Story / Obituary
Charles J. Windisch age 92 of Holland died Thursday November 17, 2016 at his daughters home in Ionia.
Born in Gibson, MI. , Chuck served in the U.S. Navy during WW11 on board of USSNashville. Following the service he workedconstruction as an iron worker in West Michigan working on the Consumers Power plant in West Olive, Palisades Power Plant, Herrick Public Library and Grand Valley State University.
He was a longtime member of New Apostolic Church. His wife of 56 years, Marie Videan Windisch preceded him in death in 2004 as well as a grandson, Christopher Sawtell in 1989. .
He is survived by his children; Jane (Joe) Sawtell of Ionia, Kay Smallegan of Holland, Mike WIndisch of Zeeland, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, brother, John Windisch of Holland, sister βin-law, Evelyn (Jim) Dreyer of Wayland and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday 1:00 PM at the Mulder Chapel, Dykstra Funeral Homes, 188 West 32nd St. with Rev. Scott Heidema officiating. Burial will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call on the family Monday 5:00PM β 7:00PM and Tuesday 12:00 β 1:00 prior to the service at the chapel.
Memorial gifts may be given to New Apostolic Church Memorial Fund or Heartland Hospice of Grand Rapids.
