Charles S. Poulson, age 94, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Wisconsin Veteran’s Home, Union Grove, WI. Charles was born in Racine, April 11, 1921, son of the late Matthew and Marie (Nee: McNamara) Poulson.

On May 24, 1941 at St. Edward’s Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Joyce L. DeKeuster who preceded him in death, January 28, 2010. During World War II Charles proudly served in the United States Army and later was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1391 Firing Squad. He was a longtime and active member and usher at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In his younger years, Charlie was a member of the Boy Scouts and attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and received the Silver Beaver Award and the St. George Award. He also was a drummer in the Boy Scouts and Boys of 76 Drum and Bugle Corps. An avid swimmer, Charlie was a member of the “Quarry Rats”. Above all he cherished his family.

He will be dearly missed by his 4 children, Cathy Poulson of Racine, Gary (Susan Wagner) Poulson of Madison, James (Dee) Poulson of Gay Mills, Charles M. Poulson of Milwaukee; 3 grandchildren, Matthew (Sarah Fowles) Poulson of Wauwatosa, Jon (Angela) Poulson of Minneapolis, MN, Sara Poulson of Madison; great-granddaughter, Elinor; great grandson, Quinn; sister, Nancy Poulson of Racine; sister-in-law, Rose DeKeuster Jr. of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his wife and parents, Charlie was also preceded in death by his brothers, Lawrence and Richard, sister, Florence Warner and brother-in-law, Martin DeKeuster.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave, on Thursday June 25, 2015, 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Ricardo Martin officiating. Entombment with Full Military Honors will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or St. Catherine’s High School have been suggested,
