Charles “Charlie” Augustine McCormick, 63, of Alden, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Munson Medical Center. Charlie was born Oct. 28, 1950 in Grand Rapids, MI to the late James and Mary (Joyce) McCormick.

He married Jean Marie Smith on June 30, 1984 in Milford, MI.

Charlie honorably served our country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Charlie brought joy and laughter to everyone he met and touched the lives of many people. A life-long musician, Charlie was known for his love of playing guitar, banjo & drums. When he wasn’t playing music, he enjoyed playing golf, spending time on Torch Lake and above all, spending time with his family & friends.

He was a kind and gentle soul, a wonderful husband, father, mentor and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jean; children, Julia McCormick, James McCormick; siblings Jim, Dan, Grace & Martha, and many life-long friends. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Rose Mary.

His memorial service will be held Saturday, June 14 at 10am at Old Mission Congregational Church in Old Mission, MI. Family members will receive visitors beginning at 9:15am. The service will be followed by a celebration of Charlie’s life at his home from 2-5pm.
