Surrounded by his loving family, Charles E. Canady, age 92, passed away Friday, February 23, 2018 at Ascension All Saints Medical Center. He was born in Texicanna, Arkansas, March 22, 1925, son of the late Harry and Bessie (Nee: Fuller) Canady.

During World War II he proudly served in the United States Army. Charles was employed as a chef for over forty years at Brandon Iron Restaurant. He was a CB operator known as “Chico Kid.” Most of all Charles was devoted to and cherished time with his family.

Charles will be dearly missed by his loving wife, LaVelle; his children, Andrew Haywood, Louise Zachery, Jimmy Canady, Edward Canady, Phyllis Canady (Sam Beavers), Phillip Canady (Essie), James (Sue) Canady, Harry (Brenda) Canady, Larry (Kenjie) Canady, Nadine Canady, Keanna (terry) Ohlemkamp; host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; brother, Freeman Canady; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary (Nee:Witherspoon) Canady; and his children, Carolyn Boykin, Ricky Canady, Edie Caldwell, and Darlene Hughes.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 1, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. Private interment with Full Military Honors will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover.

A very special thank you to the caregivers at Ascension All Saints ICU and the Racine Fire Department for their loving and compassionate care.

He will be forever remembered as “cool, calm, and collected.”
