On December 24, 2017, Cecil Sutphen died after 88 long and active years. He is survived by his five children, Sussan, Diane, Lady Cecil, Mona, and David, as well as five wonderful grandchildren, Morgan, Shelbie, Sydney, Davis, and Austin.

Born at the end of the Great Depression, Cecil lived a full life. He was kind, social, and a progressive thinker and advocate who never passed up an opportunity for a healthy debate. He lived his values and found much happiness and satisfaction through his career at the National Labor Relations Board and his commitment to community activism. Always a tinkerer, later in life he embraced his creative side by inventing a grill, refurbishing homes, and reupholstering antique furniture. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his late wife, Judy, and his children and grandchildren who he cherished. He was loved and will be missed.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Villa Terrace, 2220 N. Terrace Avenue Milwaukee, WI 53202. The family will greet friends following the service until 3:00 PM.
