Cathy Huff

Cathy Huff, age 64, of Portage, MI passed away Monday, October 17, 2016. Cathy was born October 31, 1951 in Kalamazoo to the late Joe and Betty (VanWelden) Schreuder. Cathy was united in marriage to Brian R. Huff on June 10, 1972, who preceded her in death on September 1, 2012. Cathy was a hard worker who enjoyed her free time. She would take every opportunity to get outdoors and experience nature. She enjoyed keeping up her flowers and plants in her yard. She also liked playing casino games and putting together puzzles. Family was the most important thing in Cathy's life, not a day went by she did not call her daughters and check on them. Cathy loved spending time with her grand kids. They ignited a sparkle in her eyes when they entered the room. She recently fell in love with Florida and the Gulf of Mexico. Cathy spent the last couple of winters watching sunsets, hunting for shells and shark teeth. Surviving Cathy are her daughters, Wendy (Bill) Dorrance of Richland and Mindy (Bobby) Lee of Portage; 4 grandchildren, Alex, Nick, Zach and Angelina; siblings, Craig (Janet) Schreuder, Caryn Braasch and Coleen (Pete) Beeke; sisters-in-law, Diane DeWaters, Lauri (Jeff) Bombich, Renee (Gaylon) Bell and Rhonda (Dave) Mills; mother-in-law, Lily Huff ; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will greet friends on Saturday, October 22nd from 11-12:00 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St., where a funeral service will take place at 12:00 o'clock. Memorials in Cathy's name may be directed to the family for the creation of a dedicated memorial bench which will be placed in Celery Flats, Portage.
