Pleasant High School in 1969. She furthered her education at DePauw University and Central Michigan University, graduating with a B.A. in Communications. Cathy's life was drastically altered in 1977 after suffering a traumatic brain injury in an auto accident. Cathy had a love for music and theatre and was a voracious reader. She was a woman of strong faith and had an unwavering faith in her God and a strong love for her church. She loved to spend time with her family, especially during their many family gatherings on Crystal Lake in Beulah. In 1984, Cathy married Alan Hays who survives her. She is also survived by: her siblings, Libby Stump and James (Laura) Veldhuis; her niece; several nephews; her great-niece; and her great-nephew. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents. Cathy's family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Dennis Jewett, Dr. Nadeem Mirza, the devoted staff of Sue's Loving Care, and Kalamazoo Public Safety for their many 911 responses.
