Catherine Gillespie

Catherine H. Gillespie, age 101, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away peacefully at her home Sunday morning, October 4, 2015. Catherine was born January 2, 1914 in Paw Paw, MI the daughter of William and Janet (Campbell) Frohmader and was nearly 102. She was a longtime member of the Kalamazoo Seventh Day Adventist Church and worked for 24 years with Woolworths. On November 29, 1934 she was united in marriage to her loving husband, Edward Gillespie, who preceded her in death on February 13, 1968. She was also preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Janet Belle and Henry Burson; a grandson, Norman Burson; an infant great-grandson, Timothy; 2 brothers; and a sister. Surviving is her daughter, Patricia Gillespie; grandchildren, Melody (Hawk) Houston, Alice (Terry) Haley; great-grandchildren, Matthew Burson, Rachel (Ed) Steimla, Jennifer Manier; great-great grandchildren, Edward, Allyson, and Andrew; several nieces and nephews; and all the others that called her grandma. There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held in the chapel at Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery on South Westnedge at 11:00am Wednesday October 7.
