Casimir “Cas” S. Zurawski, age 86, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at the Veteran’s Home, Town of Dover. Casimir was born in Racine, March 12, 1930, son of the late Alex and Anna (Nee: Brodzinski) Zurawski.

Casimir was a graduate of William Horlick High School. He proudly served in the United States Army Air Force as Airman 1st Class. On July 20, 1957 he was united in marriage to Rosalie Mueller who preceded him in death, November 29, 2001. Cas was employed in the automobile industry as a parts manager for many years, retiring in 2002. He was a longtime member of St. Rita Catholic Church. Cas was founder and director of the New Day and New Dawn Drum & Bugle Corps for many years and also served as Corps Director of the Explorer Scouts. He enjoyed family trips tubing on the Wolf and Apple Rivers and was a huge fan of the World Wrestling Foundation.

He will be missed by his six children, Barbara Zurawski of Union Grove, Edward (Nicky) Zurawski of Juneau, WI, Robert (Peggy) Zurawski of Racine, Laura (Mark) Weller of Nolensville, TN, Maria (Gary) Hughey of Mansfield, AR, James (Jan) Zurawski of Union Grove; 13 grandchildren, Stacey, Alex (Lindsey), Elizabeth, Jacob, Jillian, Hannah, Molly, Ian, Erica, Josiah, Garrett, Ben, Sofia; three great-grandchildren, Aiden, Alex, and Lakynn; brother, Donald (Lee) Zurawski of Racine; sister, Jan Carretta of Racine; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ann Zurawski of Caledonia, Beverly Zurawski of Racine; Monica Schmeckel of Paris, WI, Karla (Lawrence) Uhlenhake of Kenosha, Rita Mason of Racine, Paula (Wayne) Thomas of Kenosha, Cecelia (Bruce) Koellner of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife he was also preceded in death by an infant son; brothers and sisters, John (Lillian) Zurawski, Frank Zurawski, Angeline (Pete) Sellear, Wally Zurawski, Helen (Dick) Gemmel and brother-in-law, John Carretta.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, October 4, 2016, 11:00 A.M. at St. Rita Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Avenue, with Rev. Rich O’Leary officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday at the church from 9:30 A.M. until time of Mass at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society have been suggested.

A special thank you to his caregivers the past six years for their loving and compassionate care.
