77, Kalamazoo MI, passed away suddenly on Friday, March 30, 2018 at Bronson Hospital. Carolyn was born in Holland, MI on July 17, 1940, and grew up in the Parchment area. She graduated from State High School in Kalamazoo in 1957 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in accounting from Western Michigan University, after which she worked as a certified public accountant. She was a devoted Christian and an active member of the Second Reformed Church in Kalamazoo. A lifelong musician, she especially enjoyed playing flute in the church orchestra. She also enjoyed gardening, feeding wild birds, and spending time with her four grandchildren, whom she adored. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Winston and Mabel (Kleis) Kaercher, and sister Mary (Kaercher) Slocum. She is survived by daughter Kelly Mix of East Grand Rapids, daughter Debbie (Mix) Wylie of Kalamazoo, nieces Rachel Slocum and Rebecca Slocum of Eaton Rapids, grandson Joshua Wylie of Kalamazoo, grandson Spencer Bowdle of East Grand Rapids, and granddaughters Mabel Bowdle and Violet Bowdle, both of East Grand Rapids. A visitation will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, April 6, at the Second Reformed Church, 2323 Stadium Dr., Kalamazoo, MI. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m.
