Carole Knibloe, aged 83, died Sunday, September 29, 2019 at her home on Gull Lake, Michigan. The daughter of Glen and Vera (Strong) Rice, Carole was born in Traverse City, Michigan on June 21, 1936. Carole married Peter Gilbert Knibloe on December 29, 1957 at Kanley Chapel in Kalamazoo. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Peter; a daughter, Jill (Richard) Wright of Idaho Falls, Idaho; two sons, Daniel Knibloe of Las Vegas, Nevada and Andrew Knibloe of Kalamazoo; and two granddaughters, Leslie and Hannah Wright. Carole was preceded in death by her parents. After graduating from Albion College, Pete and Carole moved to the Lansing area, where Carole taught first grade for four years before starting their family. They lived there for nearly 20 years, where Carole was a devoted homemaker, before moving to the Kalamazoo area in 1977. After the children left home, she worked for Hudson's Department Store (later Marshall Field's) where she helped many brides in the gift registry department. Carole's many social and charitable activities over the years included Delta Gamma Sorority, Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra League and Ladies of the Lake. She enjoyed the pursuit of various crafts, especially in the company of her dear friends, and was a wonderful cook. Carole and Pete spent the last 25 years at Gull Lake where they designed, built and furnished their dream home. Carole loved spending time entertaining friends, family and particularly their granddaughters during the summer months.
