KERWIN, CarolAnne

Grand Rapids

Loving daughter, sister and friend passed to her home with her Lord on May 21, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. CarolAnne was born on June 24, 1954 in Port Huron, MI the daughter of Gordon and Nola Kerwin. She was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Sharon Kerwin. CarolAnne had a servants heart, she was a people person, and she loved the Lord. She brought all three of those attributes together in her life. She worked as a nurses aid at Porter Hills Home Care and when her health wouldn't allow her to work anymore, her cancer became her ministry. While receiving treatments, she could always be found talking, supporting and encouraging others who were receiving treatments, too. When it became obvious that the treatments were not improving her situation, CarolAnne volunteered for treatment study. She said, “Someone did this before me, for my care, now it is my turn to give back.” CarolAnne will be lovingly remembered for her passion for NASCAR, her enjoyment of camping, and especially her love for family and friends. Though she wasn't able to attend, she was encouraged each week by viewing Ada Bible Church Sunday service on television. CarolAnne is survived by her mother, Nola Kerwin of Port Huron; sisters, Brenda Kerwin of Grand Rapids, and Pam Jones of Port Huron; brother, Gordon Kerwin, Jr. of Port Huron; niece, Olivia Jones of Port Huron; aunt, Charlene Hurley of Nova Scotia; and uncle, Robert (Joan) Kerwin of Sarnia Ontario. Also surviving are her best friend, Betty Shull of Grand Rapids; “little sister”, Brenda Green of Port Huron; and friends, Debbie Andree of Grand Rapids, Barb and Bob Knowles of Florida, Marvin Andree of Green Bay, WI, and Penny Ledezema of Port Huron. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 23rd, at 2:00 PM at the Heritage Life Story Funeral Homes, Van Strien-Creston Chapel 1833 Plainfield Ave. NE. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 1:00 PM. A private family burial will take place in Port Huron. Memorials may be made to Lemmen-Holten Cancer Center or Faith Hospice.
