Died Wednesday morning, April 12, 2017, in Kalamazoo after an illness. Carol was born on Feb. 21, 1944, in South Bend, Ind., the daughter of August and Esther "Pat" (Jozwiak) Cooreman. Carol had been a Kalamazoo area resident for 44 years, coming from Hammond, Ind. On Oct. 29, 1966, she was united in marriage to Thomas Paul Zemrowski, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Laura (Curt) Korten of Marshall, Mich., and Paula (Jeremy) Miller of Blaine, Minn.; four grandchildren: Jerome, Athena, Ashton and Julian; a brother, Daniel Cooreman (Steven Turner) of New York, N.Y.; and several nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and by a grandson, Sebastian Benjamin Miller. Carol was a 1962 graduate of the former New Carlisle (Ind.) High School and a 1966 graduate of Purdue University, with a bachelor's degree in home economics. A homemaker, she was employed over the years as a teacher and an office manager. She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church as well as the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, the Newcomers Club, the American Association of University Women, the Junior League, the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra League, the Gilmore Keyboard Festival and the Encore Club. She was a volunteer for the U.S. Tennis Association Junior Boys Nationals for more than 30 years. A funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 421 Monroe St., Kalamazoo. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th St., with the Rosary being recited at 7 o'clock. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Highland Cemetery, South Bend, Ind. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Rose Arbor Hospice, Kalamazoo, Mich.
