Thiel, Carol L. Portage To everything, there is a season, and a time to every purpose, under heaven. A time to be born, a time to die, a time to laugh and a time to weep. Together we mourn the passing of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Carol Louise Schubert was born in Detroit, 1949, she peacefully passed away late in the afternoon on Friday, March 27, 2020. Our Mom loved life; she lived every day to its fullest and always reminded us to do the same. For 45 years, Mom and Dad traveled, shopped, danced on bars, wobbled home through the streets of Vegas, laughed and loved each other with all their hearts. Mom spent many nights on the back deck enjoying bonfires with Chris, Dakota and Chelsea. Mom was Nick's "person," his go to, his woman of the hour, a true role model. Mom and I traveled the world, we shared an appreciation of the finer things in life, we would always "buy one, get one free" (she paid). She cherished all family time, but her eyes lit up when she was with Brooklynn. She was a proud Grammy, proud of the woman Brook was growing to be. They would "pretend sleep" when Dad checked to see if they were in bed, they baked muffins just so they could eat them all, they were two of a kind. We were fortunate to have the greatest mom; she was always the person that made our house a home. She supported all of us with everything she was. She had many aliases… "no fun mom," MJ (momma joe), Grammy, Grandma, CLT, mom, my best friend, clumsy, and sherbert. Mom also enjoyed gardening, music, cruising Woodward, trying new restaurants, rescuing dogs and was very proud of her self-made career at Bronson Advanced Cardiology. Mom made friends everywhere and anywhere!! Most impressive, her best friendship of 55+ years! Diane and Mom were often "life of the party, the one that they wish they were." She had no fears, she loved "dancing on the ceiling," even when there was no music. "You'll be in my heart." Sing with me, sing for the year. Sing for the laughter, sing for the tears. Sing with me, just for today. Maybe tomorrow, the good lord will take you away. Dream On MJ. We will be holding a celebration of life and burial at Fort Custer cemetery later this summer. If you would like to donate in my mothers' name, please donate to a local animal rescue. Mom used the Animal Rescue Project of Kalamazoo to adopt Oscar and Ralph. www.animalrescueproject.org.
