Carlene Marcena (Plotts) Inman, age 81, of Galesburg passed away at her home on Monday, August 27, 2018. Carlene was born in Lansing, Michigan, on September 8, 1936, the daughter of the late Wayne and Leona Plotts. Carlene graduated from Galesburg-Augusta High School in 1954. She married Gerald D. Inman in June 1957, and began a family. In addition to raising her three sons, she worked as a sales associate at Hudson's Department Store in Battle Creek, and as a teacher's aide at Springfield Schools, a position she held for over ten years. All her life, she was an avid reader. After retirement, she enjoyed monthly luncheons with lady friends from high school, spending time with grandchildren and watching wildlife at her country home. Carlene is survived by her husband, Gerald D. Inman; her brothers, Wayne Plotts Jr., of Augusta, and Dean A. (Melinda) Plotts of Derby, Kansas; three sons, Thomas D. Inman, and his wife Valerie R., of Montoursville, Pennsylvania, Steven W. Inman, and his wife Kalli A., of Richland, Gavin L. Inman, and his wife Catherine E., of Kalamazoo; four grandchildren, Megan A. (Robert) Dziewicki of Belgrade, Montana, Mathew S. Inman of Richland, Alexander J. Inman of Kalamazoo, Haylee R. Inman of Kalamazoo, and ten nieces and nephews. Carlene was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Beverly (Pierce) Plotts. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 31, 2018 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Augusta Chapel, 307 North Webster St., Augusta where services to celebrate Carlene's life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 1, 2018. Interment will be held privately at Burr Oak Cemetery in Athens, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Galesburg-Augusta Community Schools Foundation, the Gilmore Car Museum, or the Comstock Fire Department.
