Carl was born May 26, 1919 in Kalamazoo to Everett and Cora (Deurloo) Holland. He grew up and learned the lessons of hard work in his father's dairy. He attended Otsego Public Schools and believed himself to be the last of the Otsego Class of 1937. Carl owned Holland's Dairy and retired from the Eaton Corporation in Kalamazoo in 1980. He completed a course at the Grand Rapids Baptist Bible College and a 5 year Moody Bible Institute Correspondence Course. He continued to study theology and prayed daily for his family.
