C. Edward Weber Ph.D., Deacon
Our father, brother and husband passed away, to be Born to Eternal Life on January 31, 2018 at the age of 87. Ed was the beloved husband of Suzanne "Sue" (nee Brodzeller) for over 65 years. They lived a loving, caring marital life of devotion dedicated to each other’s wellbeing. Together they enjoyed a good, happy life, and they traveled around the world. Ed was supported by his dear sister-in-law, Barbara (Wayne) Kollath during the last 10 years of his illness. Barbara said of Ed: he “was a loving big brother to me.” Ed, we love you!
He was the Dad whose love of life, love of reading and passion for sports, like swimming, boating and biking, have all left unforgettable memories in the hearts of his sons Paul Weber (Li Wang) and Mark (Annette) Weber. Dad, we miss you! Ed was the cherished grandfather of Celeste (Jason), Alex, Doug, and Katrina. Katrina said: “Grandpa always supported me in everything I did.” Grandpa, your kind, loving spirit will continue to live on in our hearts!
Ed earned his BA and Masters degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaigne, and his PhD from Princeton University. Ed was the founding Dean of the Lubar School of Business at UWM, and a Professor there. Ed retired in 1996. Ed was the author of the book, "Stories of Virtue in Business." Ed was active in the public life of the University and the City of Milwaukee.
Dedicated to his Catholic Faith, Ed was ordained as a Permanent Deacon in 1981 by Archbishop Rembert Weakland. Ed served in this capacity at Holy Rosary Church, St. Rita Church, St. Eugene Church, and at the UWM Catholic Newman Center for many years.
