Brent Pennels

Brent Pennels, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away unexpectedly at The Promise Hospital in The Villages, Florida on his 35th birthday. Brent was a graduate of Portage Northern High School in Portage, MI in 2001. Brent worked as a Dairy Manager at Harding's Marketplace on West Main St. in Kalamazoo, MI. Brent lived in Kalamazoo/Portage area all his life. Brent had a big heart, lived a quiet, simple life with a few close friends and a plethora of friends and acquaintances from his life & work. Brent was an avid player with Fantasy football and his passion was basketball at any level. His beloved MSU Spartans were his college team of choice, and he loved the Golden State Warriors from the NBA. Brent also really enjoyed playing golf and spending time out on a sunny day boating with his family and friends. Brent is survived by his parents, Don & Sandy (Burch) Pennels, The Villages FL, brother, Ryan Pennels (Nicole), Leesburg, FL, & sister, Kristin Bresson (Shane) Portage, MI. Nieces, Alyssa and Olivia Pennels and nephew, Kaden Bresson. Grandfather, LeMoyne Burch, Kalamazoo, MI. Aunts/uncles, Barbara Davan (Bari), Kalamazoo, MI, Pat Geistler (Gerry),The Villages, FL., Melody Hopper (Dennis) Gobles, MI, Dan Burch (Judy) Ft. Wayne IN, Nyda Burch Pickerington, OH and Kathy Burch Farmville,VA, and many cousins. Brent was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul & Wilma Pennels and Virginia Burch, two uncles, Duane Burch and Robert Burch. Brent also leaves behind his dearest lifelong friend Sean Shinners (Sarah), Kalamazoo, MI. Brent has been cremated and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Brent's name to Rose Arbor Hospice or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, Kalamzoo, MI. A "Memorial Gathering" will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2017 from 1:30pm to 4:00pm at The Villas of Stonehenge (in the clubhouse), 2500 Bluestone Circle, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, just off 9th St in Oshtemo, MI.
