The life of Brennan Daniel Schoen came to all too sudden and too soon an end after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer on February 21st, 2022. On July 24th, 1981, Brennan was born in Muskegon, Michigan, but never for a second considered it home. He never knew his birth family, as he was adopted by an incredibly loving and generous family who made sure he never wanted for anything. This included making sure he never did have to call Muskegon home. He spent most of his school years in East Kentwood schools, just outside of Grand Rapids, Michigan and while he hated it in school, he managed to make many friends who also hated it and experienced a lot of joy in his teens and early 20s. Some of these friends were lifelong and will continue to honor Brennan in a way that will no doubt keep his spirit with us always. Brennan knew that what matters most in life are the connections that you can make with other people and the love you can share. He had a lot of love to share and was unafraid to do so. He started doing local standup and, not only was he incredibly funny and original in his material, but he continued to form priceless and beautiful friendships in whatever venue or town he was performing in. Brennan had an openness and ability for emotional connection that is all too often missing in this world. Brennan was and will continue to be recognized as one of the funniest people that so many people have ever had the luck to meet, laugh at, or laugh with. He brought humor to the darkest situations and even while losing a terribly hard-fought battle to cancer, Brennan smiled, Brennan laughed, and Brennan joked. He befriended and joked with the kind and caring staff at Bronson Cancer Center as they provided much appreciated compassionate care for him as he battled his illness. Brennan loved hip hop music and was part of a large underground community of fellow hip hop fans online. He knew so much about some of the most obscure music and our loss is also a huge loss to many small artists that Brennan spent time to promote and support. Brennan loved skateboarding and both his collarbones were broken as testament. He enjoyed watching skateboarding videos and playing Skate on his Xbox 360 that he refused to upgrade. Brennan spent a good deal of his life single and that's because, as he would joke, he wasn't looking for love, he was looking for his biological mother. He checked under a lot of rugs and behind a lot of curtains and she never showed up, but it didn't matter because the mother who found him was the right mother for him all along. He was blessed to have the family that he did, and I know they feel similarly blessed to have gotten to see him grow and develop into the human being he was, the one who touched so many. Brennan did, however, stumble into love and married his wife in July of 2019. They had no children together, but Brennan was an active, loving, and present parent for his stepson. Brennan was very much loved and will be very much missed. Brennan is survived by his mother, Allison Schoen; his father, Jeremiah Schoen; his brother, Casey Schoen; his sister, Dayna Schutter and her husband Brad and their children Brad, Jeremiah and Ethan. He is also survived by his adoring wife, Victoria Schoen and his stepson, Milo Mansberger. Brennan loved animals and animals loved him and he will be greatly missed by his dog Ox, his two cats Andy and Princess Xiao Jiao Littlefoot, and his two guinea pigs Ruth Bader Guineasburg and Virguinea Woolf. There will be no services at this time. Arrangements entrusted to Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services 622 S Burdick St Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
