Moore, Bill Bill Moore was born on Dec. 11, 1939 to Hazel and Curt Moore in Wabash, Indiana. He had four siblings, Bonnie Collier, Bev Emrick, Jim Moore, and half-brother Fred Moore. He attended Noble High School in Wabash County and was a member of the 1957-58 championship basketball team. He was an avid athlete throughout school and received the Gus Dorais Sportsmanship Award voted by the coaches of Wabash County. It was through his basketball experience that he developed the characteristics of teamwork, dedication, loyalty, fair play, and hard work. Shortly after high school Bill married the love of his life, Marilyn Vrooman. This union lasted for 57 wonderful years. These two kids from Wabash County went on to have five children of their own: Angela (Mark) Hovious, Amanda (Joe) Goudzward, Jeff Moore, Bethany (Tim) Potter, and Lynne (Steve) Buell. He adored his twelve grandchildren: Nick, Brittany, Eli, Abby, Boaz, Seth, Lizzie, Michael, Hanna, Levi, Carly, and Ben, along with his two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Emma. In 1966 he and his wife made the selfless decision to leave their life in Indiana for new opportunities in Southwest Michigan. They settled in the sleepy little town of Vicksburg, allowing Bill to perfect his trade in tool and die at General Motors in Kalamazoo - a place where he devoted 27 years of his life for his family and peers. Perhaps his greatest joy was being a provider to those he loved. Bill was a man who never shied away from hard work. While honing his craft at GM he also worked on a farm, had a woodworking business, remodeled his homes, and was a vendor selling t-shirts at local fairs. Being civic minded, he served on the Vicksburg Village Council, church boards, and belonged to the Vicksburg Lions Club. Bill's immediate family has received many messages from extended family and friends reliving the fun and laughter that he shared with so many. To honor the memory of Bill Moore his family asks for you to endure his legacy by the way he lived his life: to stay loyal to your marriage even through the tough times, to bring a smile to children by investing time in their lives, to find a hobby you enjoy like hunting morel mushrooms each spring as he did, to expand your knowledge by diving into books, and to love your family unconditionally. A service celebrating the life of Bill Moore will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Mendon Public Library. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.eickhofffuneralhome.com
