Betty Schreuder

Betty Schreuder went be with her Lord on September 28, 2019. She was born on March 16, 1929 to John and Elizabeth Puhl and married Edward Schreuder on June 26, 1948. Betty was preceded in death by her husband and her daughter, Judith Bartels. Betty was a member of the Decatur First Reformed Church. Betty graduated from Decatur High School and Western Michigan University where she earned Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in education and counseling. She taught elementary school and did elementary counseling for 37 years with Decatur Public Schools. Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She treasured the time spent with her grandchildren, and she and Ed both enjoyed travelling. Betty is survived by her daughter, Pamela (Stephen) Wilcox; her son-in-law Dennis Bartels; grandchildren Stephanie (Shawn) Conover, Courtney Bartels, Blake Wilcox and Clark Wilcox; and her great-grandchildren Riley and Samantha Conover. She is also survived by her sister, Eleanor (Norris) Smith, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the First Reformed Church in Decatur on Saturday, November 2 at 2:00 p.m. preceded by visitation with the family beginning at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Newell Chapel, Decatur.
