Timmerman, Betty Jean Betty Jean went to be with her Lord Friday, April 13, 2018. She was born September 21, 1931, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Bierenga) Boven. Her childhood was spent on their celery farm in Comstock, Michigan. She made confession of faith at Comstock Christian Reformed Church and, after marriage, joined Twin Lakes Reformed Church. Her school years were spent at Ebenezer/Kalamazoo Christian School, but she left before graduating. Always regretting that decision, she returned to school and graduated with pride from Comstock High School at the age of 53. Glad her Mom lived long enough to see her receive her diploma. On May 26, 1950, she was united in marriage to Eldon Timmerman and, though the marriage ended in divorce, they were married for 24 years and lovingly raised their two children. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; her son, Terry Lee Timmerman; and her five siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Al) Ullrich; her daughter-in-law, Sheila Lynn Timmerman; her grandchildren, Amy (Dwight) Olivier and Lee Ullrich; and her great-grandchildren, Simone and Raymond Olivier. Though her siblings all preceded her in death, she was blessed to be a beloved "Aunt Jeannie" to her many nieces and nephews. While she held various jobs throughout her working life, she always believed her most important job was that of Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma. Her other favorite "job" after retirement was volunteering at Borgess Hospital delivering mail and flowers to patients. She valued her friendships and enjoyed traveling, playing Euchre and Dominoes, working crossword puzzles, quilting, and doing needlework. Through many trials in life, she remained faithful and sought comfort in her faith attending Twin Lakes Reformed Church for over 60 years. She faced each day by observing the words on a plaque that hung in her house..."Each New Day is a Masterpiece of God." Friends may meet the family on Tuesday, April 17th from 5:00 to 7:00PM and again on Wednesday, April 18th at 10:00AM an hour before the 11:00AM service at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Pastor Ron Lugten will officiate. Interment will be in West Cooper Cemetery, 7530 Douglas Avenue, following a light luncheon at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Open Doors (Building relationships, Overcoming homelessness), P. O. Box 50102, Kalamazoo, MI 49005 or The Bridge (for church restart on Ravine Rd), 7200 Angling Road, Portage, MI 49024. Please visit Betty's personalized guest book at www.langelands.com
