Betty J. Fanger of Traverse City, mother of Kim (Harry) Gough, passed away peacefully May 11, 2017.

She was born on July 14, 1940 in Saginaw the daughter of Walter and Beatrice (Keeley) Fanger. She attended Bethlehem Lutheran School and graduated in 1958 from Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw.

Betty was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

She worked for Sear Roebuck in Saginaw as a bookkeeper. She was very well known in Sanford and was the co-owner of the Red Oak Restaurant. Betty loved watching all types of sports, especially the Detroit Tigers.

Betty is survived by her children, Kimberly (Harry) Gough and Kevin (Kimberly) Ayotte; grandchildren; Amanda Gough; Melissa (Kyle) Hollinshead; Brandon Ayotte and siblings, Donald (Betty) Fanger, Geraldine Hoerniein and Doris Schmitzer; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter, Erica Paul and grandson-in-law, Michael Paul and siblings, Lorraine Weiss and Wilma Fanger.

Services will be held 2pm, Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Traverse City. The family will greet friends starting at 1pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Prince of Peace Ev. Lutheran Church or Munson Hospice House. The family would like to thank her special caregiver, Cindy Acker at Cindy's Place AFC Home for her great care and Pastor Stephen Raddatz for ministering to Betty. A special thank you to the doctors and nursing staff at Munson Medical Center and the Munson Hospice House.
