Bettie Coleman

Coleman, Bettie Kalamazoo Age 91, passed away on February 3, 2016. She was born in Kalamazoo on September 5, 1924, the daughter of the late Jacob and Ruth (Curran) Newhouse. Bettie loved life and lived it to the fullest. In her youth she modeled, loved to roller skate, took flying lessons, and was an exceptional dancer. She also developed a passion for gardening which she would carry throughout life. She worked on the landscape of many local businesses and clubs in Kalamazoo. Bettie was a classy woman who always made an impression. She loved to entertain and was a great hostess. Above all, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She leaves them with many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who loved her. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Robert E. Coleman Sr., who preceded her in passing. She was also preceded in passing by a son, Robert E. Coleman Jr.; a son-in-law, Marty Springstead. She is survived by two daughters, June Evans, and Linda Springstead; three grandchildren, Tayoni Coleman, Robert Zimmerman Jr., Bradley Springstead; a daughter-in-law, Kathi Coleman. A visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 10, 2016, beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
