Clawson, Beatrice "Bea" Kalamazoo Age 83, passed away at her home on Sunday, February 7, 2021 surrounded by her family. Bea was born in Allegan, on December 3, 1937, the daughter of Robert G. and Beatrice I. (Severens) Ball. On April 11, 1959, she married Andrew P. Clawson who preceded her in death in 2005. Bea was a devoted Catholic and was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, where she regularly attended Mass. She loved the outdoors and walking at the Kalamazoo Nature Center. She also enjoyed nature in her own yard where she planted flowers every spring. She fed the birds and squirrels that lived in her yard. Even though she was allergic to cats, she loved them, and the neighborhood cats could always expect a treat when they came to visit her. Bea could always find time to read a book and she shared her love of reading with others. She also liked sewing and quilting and watching cooking shows on TV. She enjoyed being a resident of West Michigan and taking day trips with family and friends. More than anything, Bea enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, who survive her; her son, Allen (Tiffanie) Clawson of Scotts; daughter, Amy S. Hess of Kalamazoo; granddaughters, Amanda and Sierra Clawson, and Maggie Hess; great-grandchildren, Mason and Sophia; sister, Barbra (Denny) Tulk; brother, Bud Ball; several nieces and nephews and many friends. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. The Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 936 Lake Street, Kalamazoo. There will be no visitation prior to the service or at the funeral home. Bea will be laid to rest next to her husband at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes or the Kalamazoo Nature Center, c/o the funeral home.
