Barbara Hatfield

Barbara Jane Hatfield, age 87, of Mount Vernon, Ohio passed away Monday, November 28, 2016 under the care of Hospice at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark. She was born on July 3, 1929 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Charles and Edith (Tatro) Hiller. Barb was a 1947 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. She was very active in athletics during the 40's and early 50's while living in Kalamazoo, at one time being offered a contract to play baseball for the Kalamazoo Lassies, a member of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League ("A League of Their Own"). Barb is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Edith. Barb is survived by her husband, William Hatfield; children, Melvin, Mary J. (Ted) Nichols and William (Oscar); grandchildren, Matt Hatfield, Adam, Aric and Austin Nichols; granddaughter, Amy (Michael) Wheatley; great grandchildren, Jack and Griffin Wheatley. The family will have a private celebration of life at a later date. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Barbara Jane Hatfield.
