Barbara Hamlin

Barbara Jane Hamlin passed away Sunday, April 26, 2020 at her home. She was born May 21, 1924 in Chicago, IL the daughter of William R. and Meta (Kreig) Baker. Barbara graduated from Nicholas Senn High School in Chicago and attended North Park College there. She worked at Prudential Insurance Company in Chicago and moved to Kalamazoo, MI after her marriage to E. Arnold Hamlin on October 30, 1953. Barbara worked for the Comstock School System and as a part-time dental receptionist for Dr. Daniel W. Miner. Barbara and Arnold also worked at Miller Auditorium, WMU, in the ticket office. After retirement Barbara and Arnold spent their winters in Mission, TX, traveled extensively in Mexico and spent their summers near South Haven, MI. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Arnold in 2011. She is survived by two sons, Gary Hamlin of Kalamazoo and Paul (Courtney) Hamlin of Plainwell; six grandchildren, Jennifer Fuller, and Justin (Jordan), Kirklin, Caitlin, Brittin and Ashlin Hamlin; and six great-grandchildren, Deziray, Kaylyn, Ethon, Jayce, Jaxton and Juliana. Private burial has taken place in Fort Custer National Cemetery. A service to celebrate Barbara's life will be held later this year.
