Baker, Barbara J. 3/22/1931 - 3/31/2022 Suttons Bay 91, passed on March 31, 2022. She was born on March 22, 1931, to Wade and Josephine (Hoatlin) Hanshue. Barbara was a Reading Specialist and taught French, Spanish and social studies for 29 years after graduating from Western Michigan University where she earned her BA and MA degrees. Barbara was an avid reader. She spent her leisure hours sewing; gardening; and creating embroidered crewel pieces, pottery, basket making, and stained glass. She especially enjoyed playing cards, golfing, and discussing politics with her family and friends. Barbara is survived by her sister, Sally Wines; two daughters, Debra (Randy) Fredenburg and Karen Broach; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Barbara survived her husband, Willard Baker; brother, Wayne Hanshue; brother, Wade (Yvonne) Hanshue; brother-in-law, Richard Wines; and son-in-law, Randy Broach. Barbara's family will be hosting a Celebration of Life on May 29 during Memorial Day weekend, more information will be forthcoming.
