Passed away Thursday October 20, 2005. Art was born January 16, 1937 in Kalamazoo, the son of Arthur K. and Vivian (Powers) MacRitchie and was a lifelong area resident. He was a peacetime veteran of the U.S. Army and for 30 years he was employed as a product designer with National Water Lift. Art was a member of the Gold Wing Touring Association and truly enjoyed traveling by motorcycle. He also enjoyed woodworking, spending time at a cabin on the Muskegon River and his second home in Florida for the past 5 years. On October 20, 1979 he was united in marriage to Jettie VanWagner who survives. Also surviving are his children, Jettie Lynn (David) Noyes of Kalamazoo, John (Theresa) VanWagner of Mattawan, Jodi (Harry) Wesaw of Decatur, Jeff (Mary) VanWagner of Kalamazoo, David MacRitchie of Scotts, Jody (Terry) Baker of Portage, Jami (John) Rose of Gobles, Scott (Marianne) MacRitchie of Plainwell; 16 grandchildren; brother, Kenneth (Eunice) MacRitchie of Mattawan, Gail Longcore (mother of Jody, David and Scott) of Mattawan; sister-in-law, Mary (Mike) Hessman of Ridgecrest, CA; aunts, Kathrine Riley and Betty Zoutman; 3 nephews and 1 niece. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends from 1-3pm on Monday, October 24 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. where a Memorial Service will be held beginning 3:00pm Monday. Memorial contributions in Art's memory may be directed to the Kidney Foundation, or the American Heart Association.
