Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on July 12, 2016. Arnold was born on April 12, 1923 in Grand Rapids, to the late Ernest and Marie (Rector) DePung. He served in the United States Army during World War II and retired from the Grand Rapids Police Department. Arnold was a true public servant who loved to tell his stories. On November 1, 1946, he married Eleanor Schuiling. His wife of 64 years preceded him in death in 2010. Arnold is survived by his sisters, Norma Wemple and Dawn Pawlowski; brother, Rev. Ronald DePung; nieces, Mildred (Marv) Grit and Sandra (Doug) Gardner; and many nieces & nephews. A funeral service will be held on Saturday July 16th at 11:00 AM at the Alt & Shawmut Hills Chapel, 2120 Lake Michigan Drive NW. Friends may arrive and visit with the family beginning at 10 AM. A private family burial will take place in Washington Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Covenant Village Benevolent Fund.
